Home for Adults with Physical Disabilities, Dolno Draglishte, Razlog Municipality
The home in the village of
Dolno Draglishte
is for people with disabilities and the elderly who are no longer able to care for themselves. Our
desire is to bring encouragement, hope and love for the residents. We enjoy spending time with them.
Through Star of Hope, the residents are active learning about other cultures, working on different
craft projects, going on walks and exercising.
Star of Hope also helps the home through the provision of material resources. We have donated several
appliances, new floor tiles for the residential area, exercise equipment for the rehabilitation room,
clothes and food supplies.

Home for Women with Mental Disturbances, Razdol, Strumjani Municipality
This home has a very remote location in the mountains, near the Macedonian border. Because of its distant
location and the stigma placed on those with mental health illnesses, the residents receive few visitors.
Qualified personnel are hard to find to work there. However, Star of Hope is able to honor and show care to
these women by visiting the home and offering a variety of support. Since 2001, we have provided new showers,
water-heaters, electric radiators, personal nightstands for each woman, boots, warm
socks, toiletries, etc. During our visits, with the help of our volunteers, the residents participate in a
variety of activities, including nail painting, hand massages, hair coloring, doing handicrafts, being listened
to and receiving loving care. Some of our Christmas visits to this home have been quite adventurous because of
heavy winter conditions in the region and uneasy roads.
Star of Hope has a good relationship and works in close connection with the Mayor and Social Welfare Services of
Strumjani,
the municipality in which
Razdol is located.
This partnership makes Star of Hope’s work in
Razdol even more
effective and influential.
